Indoor cycling is here to stay—and Wahoo Fitness has stepped up the indoor game with the KICKR BIKE. Known for its innovative, easy to use smart fitness devices used by such WorldTour teams as INEOS and Bora-Hansgrohe, Wahoo is now positioning itself at the forefront of the gravel revolution with its new initiative, Frontiers, featuring athletes like former WorldTour rider Ian Boswell. With the KICKR BIKE, Wahoo’s goal is to take what it has learned making indoor and outdoor products, and make indoor riding and outdoor riding as similar as possible.
It’s wintertime and we are all indoors more than we’d like to be. To help keep our mileage up, Wahoo created the innovative KICKR BIKE. Its key factors are a real-ride feel and an integrated grade simulation that not only make the time spent indoors as effective as possible for training purposes, but also make the indoor experience more like a bike ride outdoors.
Bringing that experience indoors starts with a fit protocol that matches you exactly to your outdoor bike’s geometry. Then you can set up the KICKR BIKE to mimic your groupset gearing and functionality to fit your preference for SRAM, Shimano or Campagnolo. Once set up, the KICKR BIKE easily integrates into the Wahoo ecosystem and leading apps like The Sufferfest.
Over the next four weeks, we will take you through four key features of the KICKR BIKE— KICKR Real-Ride Feel, Reality Shift, True Fit and Ride Ready—that make this indoor product an inspiring and effective experience for serious cyclists.
FEATURE ONE: REAL-RIDE FEEL
The goal of any indoor experience is to best model the joy of riding outside, and we believe the design team at Wahoo has accomplished this in spades. This product is truly built by cyclists for cyclists. Part of the joy of riding a bike is the feeling of freedom and movement and the KICKR BIKE features best-in-class resistance, grade simulation and the unexpected downhill simulation that allows you to maintain speed on virtual descents.
The KICKR BIKE’s flywheel and internal-motor-brake system utilize proprietary algorithms focused on accuracy and real-world performance. Charting your power up to 2,200 watts of resistance for reliable data and power ranges is another key feature, as is the built-in durability and the virtually silent belt-driven motor.
We are using the month of February to spend time with the KICKR BIKE, detailing key features and our experiences. Stay tuned and visit wahoofitness.com for more details.
