Feb 15, 2016 – The 2015 edition of the Tour of Oman was quite the spectacle, and not for the obvious reasons, but for many reasons that were unexpected prior to the start. For starters, the 2015 Tour of Oman was one of the few times a race has been stopped for a mechanical. In 2015, the racer’s decided that riding on tubulars with tires peeling off the rims (due to scorching hot temperatures) isn’t overly safe, but the race continued on the following stage when temperatures slightly cooled off. Going into the Queen stage of the Tour, all eyes were on Tejay Van Garderen to add another week-long tour to his belt, however it was Lampre-Merida’s Rafael Valls that would capture victory and moreover seal the Tour of Oman overall victory.
