The new crop of early season, middle eastern races are known mainly for bunch sprints and small time gaps. The Tour of Oman stands out as the first chance the climbers get to test their legs and, along with the Tour of Algarve in Portugal, has become an important season opener for Grand Tour hopefuls. Defending Tour champ, Team Sky’s Chris Froome, saw his season get under way with overall victory, while Tejay van Garderen, Rigoberto Uran and Joaquim Rodriguez proved they are not far behind. Of course, there were plenty of bunch sprints to, and Andre Greipel was the man to beat. As always, our man on the World Tour, Yuzuru Sunada, was there to capture all the action.
