Aug 6, 2014 – With only three stages completed, Belkin’s Moreno Hofland has already done the double winning the first and third stage at the Tour of Utah. Hofland won a bunch sprint at Miller Motorsports Park, after 118 miles from Lehi on a relatively flat day, for the Tour of Utah. The only real hurdle for the sprinters was the KOM at Eureka but with over 70miles to ride to the line a GC battle was not in the cards.

Hofland held of Lampre’s Andrea Palini and Eric Young from Optum p/b Kelly Benefit Strategies during the sprint on the motorsports race way. Jure Kocjan from SmartStop Pro Cycling defended his slim 2second advantage over BMC’s Michael Schar.
Stage four tomorrow, 104 miles from Ogden to Powder Mountain, will see the climbers truly come out to play for the first time on the summit finish to the small ski resort. Expect the 3,000′ of elevation gain in just six miles to the finish line to turn the GC battle upside down.
