June 11, 2016 – For the letter F in this A-to-Z countdown to the 2016 Tour de France (#TDF2016) we’ve chosen the FEED ZONE—like it was 25 years ago.

Back in 1991, the riders’ musettes for the American team, Motorola, featured these old-school items: three NutriGrain energy bars, two foil-covered cheese or ham rolls, two Extran energy drinks, two water bottles and a banana. Today’s musettes at the feed zone still contain water bottles, some more nutrition-oriented energy bars, plus instant-energy items such as gels and fruit drinks, along with some solid foods such as small rice cakes and perhaps half a banana.
