PONFERRADA, Spain, Sept 26, 2014 – Norway’s Sven Erik Bystrom won the men’s under-23 road race world title in Ponferrada, Spain on Friday.
Bystrom, who will join Russian World Tour team Katusha next year, made a solo break on the last of 10 laps of the 18.2km circuit around the northern Spanish city.
The peloton, led by the Australians for large parts of the closing stages, could not reel him in and Bystrom won by seven seconds.
