2016 Giro d’Italia Route Announced

Oct 5, 2015 – Organizers revealed three time-trials in the 2016 edition of the Giro d’Italia, which was announced at the Milan World Expo on Monday. Apart from the 9.8km opening stage race against the clock in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands — which had already been announced in June — there will be two others during the three-week race starting on May 6.

The main one will be on the May 15 ninth stage around Chianti which is a 40.4km solo effort. But before the end of the race in Turin on May 29, there will also be another short 10.8km mountain time-trial a week earlier in the 15th stage from Castelrotto to Alpe di Siusi. Spain’s Alberto Contador won the 2015 event ahead of home hope Fabio Aru.
