Fastest Bikes at the Tour After Week 2

A long first week of racing saw Specialized at the top for wins with the new 2015 Tarmac and its helmets notching more victories than other brands.

With only five days of racing between rest days, and despite a hard-charging Alexander Kristoff, Specialized has only increased its lead. In the other categories the race is closer, with shoes, components, and wheels looking to go down to the wire. In fact, with Nibali’s dominance, these may be the only overall victories still up for grabs.

Winningest Bike

1st: 2015 Specialized Tarmac – Six Stages
Even with Alberto Contador’s untimely departure Specialized’s new Tarmac is still smashing the competition. With Rafal Majka’s win adding to another Nibali victory and the victories by Martin and Trentin all three Specialized sponsored teams have reached the top step of the podium.
2nd: Giant Propel (Kittel) – Three stages.
3rd: Tie – Ridley Noah FAST/Helium (Greipel, Gallopin) and Canyon Aeroad (Kristoff) – Two stages each.
4th: Tie – Bianchi Infinito CV (Boom), Focus IzalcoMAX (Kadri) – One stage each.
Honorable Mention: Cannondale EVO (Sagan).

Winningest Group

1st: Tie Campagnolo Super Record and Shimano Dura Ace – Six Stages Each
Campagnolo and Shimano are still battling for supremacy, with Nibali’s Campagnolo win total helped by Greipel, Gallopin, and Kadri. Shimano’s fast start with Kittel and Boom has been aided by Kristoff’s two sprint wins. Red brings up the rear with Majka, hurt considerably by Contador’s withdrawal.
2nd: SRAM Red – Three stages (Martin, Trentin, Majka).

Winningest Wheels

1st: Shimano Dura Ace – Four Stages.
Resting on its first-week laurels thanks to Kittel and Boom, Shimano Dura Ace C50’s still lead the wheel pack in wins, but Corima should tie in the Alps.
2nd: Corima (Nibali) – Three stages.
3rd: Tie – Campagnolo (Greipel, Gallopin) Mavic (Kristoff) and Zipp (Martin, Trentin) – Two stages each.
4th: Tie – Fulcrum (Kadri) and Roval (Majka) – One stage each.

Winningest Helmet

1st: Specialized S-Works Evade/Prevail – Six Stages
More Specialized dominance in the helmet category. With Evades and Prevails and three different teams wearing them, Specialized looks unbeatable in this category. Nibali has three victories, and Martin, Trentin, and Majka have padded that total.
2nd: UVEX Race 5 – Three stages (Kittel).
3rd: Tie – Lazer Z1 (Greipel, Gallopin), Giro Synthe (Kristoff) – Two stages each.
4th: Tie – Bell Star Pro (Boom), Ekoi Ekcel (Kadri) – One stage each.

Winningest Shoes

1st: Tie – Specialized S-works and Garnae G.Chrono Four stages each.
This category flipped completely, with SIDI and Shimano failing to score during the second week and Gaerne getting three stages with Kristoff and Gallopin and Specialized notching two wins with Nibali and Majka, they are now tied for the lead.
2nd: Tie – SIDI Wire (Boom, Martin, Trentin) and Shimano R320 (Kittel) – Three stages each.
3rd: – Mavic Pre-Production Shoe (Kadri) – One stage.
