Once known as the Schwinn of Italy, Olmo la Biciclissima was started by Giuseppe Olmo in the late 1930s. Giuseppe was a successful racer from Celle Ligure and won two stages of the Giro d’Italia in 1933, held the hour record until 1936 and won Milan-San Remo in 1938, the same year he began building bicycles.

This early 1980s Olmo Grand Prix with Columbus tubing features an Olmo pantographed 3T stem and handlebars, Campagnolo Nuovo Record downtube shifters, a Super Record seat post with a tri-color Italian pantograph, and Super Record crankset. Finishing the package is a Selle San Marco Regal saddle.

Hrach Gevrikyan of Velo Pasadena and Velo Studio has this seasoned Olmo hanging proudly in his showroom, along with a virtual treasure chest of old Italian bikes, parts, Campagnolo components and more. For anyone interested in vintage Italian bikes, make sure to visit Hrach and crew.
