With the 31st Olympiad in full swing, the men’s and women’s road races this past weekend delivered everything we could have asked for – excitement, pain, tears, joy and two new, well deserving gold medalists.

For the second week in August at the Peloton Service Course we’ve identified some products from the paddock that will be on test soon; a power meter crankset from ROTOR, a super-light vest for chilly summer mornings from Velocio and a versatile roll-top backpack from Thule.

ROTOR 2INpower Crankset BCD 110

Utilizing a universal bottom bracket, the 2INpower cranks are compatible with nearly every bike available. These cranks from ROTOR are optimized for Q-Rings and with an optimum chainring angle (OCA) they help riders accurately analyze force variations throughout the pedal stroke using the in-house 2INpower software. All of the electronics and the battery are contained inside the axle, making the 2INpower nearly impenetrable to the elements. A standard AA battery has a claimed life of 300 hours of interruption free power readings – no tool is necessary to remove the battery cover either. Rechargeable AA batteries are also compatible. A wide range of crank sizes for road and dirt riding are available with ROTOR’s 2INpower’s axle-based power meter technology.

Velocio Men’s Ultralight Vest
The New Hampshire based Velocio developed the Ultralight Wind Vest to be as minimalistic as possible without sacrificing any performance. Using Japanese 30 gram-per-meter milled nylon in the front, side panels and shoulders this vest made in Italy is 100% windproof, very breathable and extremely durable. A perforated mesh back increases rear venting and provides increased stretch for mobility. Incase you get caught in a passing summer shower, the durable water repellent (DWR) finish will keep you as dry as a vest can. The Ultralight Wind Vest rolls up into the size of a sock and easily fits in a pocket with other on-the-road essentials. With a slim cut designed to fit tight on the body, their still is room to layer for various conditions under this product from Velocio.

Thule Covert DSLR Rolltop Backpack

A versatile rolltop backpack with enough pockets for all your gear and gadgets, the Thule Covert DSLR Rolltop Backpack is perfect for cyclists looking to ride comfortably with their most prized electronics.
