Featuring a smoother diamond-pattern center tread and more aggressive side tread, Panaracer’s new Gravelking SS and SS+ gravel tires are made for dry and fast-rolling race conditions. They allow riders to build more speed over the smoother stuff, but still have traction when they dig in through the corners or transition between terrains.

“As more and more races and events appeared on the gravel calendar with a wider variety of terrain, it became apparent that we needed a tire that sat firmly between the slick version of the Gravelking and the more robust Gravelking SK,” said Panaracer’s Jeff Zell in a press release. “We performed extensive testing with our gravel team in events like The Mid South, The Hondo, Georgia Grinduro, and others where the SS tire really shines.”
The SS version utilizes a 126 TPI casing with a nylon puncture-resistant belt and Panaracer’s proprietary ZSG (Zero Slip Grip) compound. The SS+ is the same as the SS, but adds a bead-to-bead layer of Panaracer’s ProTite puncture material, reducing punctures and sidewall cuts.
Both versions will be available with a black or brown sidewall in sizes: 700x28c, 32c, 35c, 38c, 43c as well as 650x48c. The SS will be available in early June 2020 with the SS+ following in early July 2020. The SS version costs $50 per tire and the SS+ costs $60.
