French bicycle technology is more rare than one might expect. There are the known names like Mavic, Hutchinson, LaPierre, LOOK and TIME, but far fewer brands than are found in Italy or Germany. Add to the list, the burgeoning helmet and glasses outfitter: EKOÏ.

PELOTON Magazine

EKOÏ launched in 2001 but has turned a spotlight on its profile with a focus on customization across its line – from kit, to glasses, helmets to shoes. It is currently the helmet supplier to AG2R La Mondiale, Europcar, and this year Quick-Step Floors is wearing EKOÏ glasses. The company’s founder Jean-Christophe Rattel comes from cycling industry background involving stints at MBK bicycles and the accessory brand Vetta.

With a growing presence in the professional peloton (EKOÏ also has eyewear sponsorships with Aru, Bouhanni and Kristoff) the brand has begun focusing on sponsorships of larger fondo to grow its reputation as the official helmet of La Marmotte and Étape du Tour. Helmets, glasses, socks and shoes all come in a variety of colors, from lenses to boas to even the high density foam in the helmets, allowing teams and individuals to get those finer details dialed in.

You can completely customize your eyewear, and helmets, with EKOÏ claiming up to 100,000 different colored helmet configurations, and nearly 6,000,000 for their eyewear line.

EKOÏ Corsa Light Magnetic:

The official helmet of AG2R La Mondiale for a few years running, the Corsa Light comes with 24 vents, and even ventilated helmet straps. The middle of the strap is constructed with a mesh fabric and the buckle itself is magnetic as opposed to a traditional snap. The adjustable ratchet system on the back of the helmet can be moved up or down with three different fit positions. This Corsa Light is indeed light clocking in at 185 grams for the s/m model. The prices are also very appealing at only $120.

EKOÏ Fit First Quick Step Edition Blue Lens

In the search for a perfect fit the folks at EKOÏ have developed a patented elastomer hinge in the bridge of the glasses allow it to flex both ways and fit a variety of schnozes. The elastomer hinge couple with the wrap around temples allow a secure fit across rough terrain. The glasses are finished off with a blue polycarbonate lens and clock in at 35 grams and cost just $85.
