ASSOS MILLE GTS Bibs Introduce Second-Gen MILLE Insert

ASSOS has earned its reputation for premium cycling clothing based largely on the performance of one staple: black bib shorts. Now the Swiss brand introduces the latest generation of that essential piece of kit, the MILLE GTS Bibs.

PELOTON

An expansion of the MILLE GT line of bibs, the MILLE GTS brings several new features meant to enhance comfort and support, including a double-layer chamois and a more compressive textile, called OSSIDIA, which was developed specifically for the MILLE GT c2 platform. The material is made with ultra-thin, elastic thread, providing compression and breathability and a smooth, comfortable feel along the lower back and thighs.

When you have a whole catalog of premium bib shorts like ASSOS, you have a lot of features to draw inspiration from. ASSOS modified the pattern of its own S9 race bibs for the new MILLE bibs, using a two-panel “butterfly” lower for minimal seams and reduced friction. That design also helps lock the second generation MILLE chamois, one of the most significant updates to the MILLE line, in place. The MILLE GTS c2 Summer Insert chamois features double-layer, dual-density memory foam with a honeycomb patterned top sheet. These features come together to provide greater support and breathability than before.

For ASSOS, every part of the bibs serves a critical role in performance, including the straps. The brand’s Xbib straps offer calibrated amounts of stretch throughout the straps, providing more or less stretch as needed. And the rear section utilizes a single strap to form an A-frame, which results in greater stability of the shorts. ASSOS says the fit, which it calls regularFit, is ideal for a variety of body types and riding styles.

With these bibs offering all these new comfort features, ASSOS recommends reserving them for the longest rides in your training calendar—not that you can’t use them for a short coffee ride, too.

The MILLE GTS bibs retail for $230 and are available in the U.S. starting February 8.
