Dec 14, 2016 – This week at the #PelotonServiceCourse we have four items for you that add that extra edge we all want to ride on. Up first is the Lightweight Meilenstein C Disc Wheels, followed by Catlike’s Whisper road shoe, Smith’s Pivlock V2 sunglasses and finally, Sugoi’s RSE kit. Enjoy!

Lightweight is part of the larger, German- based Wissler Group that also engineers and designs precision agriculture products, medical devices, satellite communications and aerospace technologies. The Meilenstein C Disc wheelset is very similar to the rim-brake version, albeit a bit heavier, but with increased stopping power. A double-bonded, pentagon-shaped hub made by DT Swiss for the new disc version acts as a security net for heat amplif ication from the rotor. Hopefully, your pockets run a bit deeper than the 47mm rim depth offered on the Meinelstein C Disc, because at the price of a high-end carbon bike these are as expensive a pair of wheels as you can buy. $6,500; 1,390g wheelset;

Incorporating a carbon sole that is reinforced with graphene for additional strength, the Whisper shoe from Catlike is a new offering from the helmet company based in Spain. The outside part of the Whisper Road incorporates Clarino microfiber that helps to dissipate heat in warm weather, yet retains warmth when it’s cold outside. Two Boa dials and a Velcro strap combine to keep your foot secure without creating hotspots and offering plenty of mid-ride adjustment. The venting is adequate, the fit is not too tight and the heel cup provides a secure fit for all-day comfort. $300; four colors; 510g (size 43);

The Pivlock V2 Max from Smith offers a highly adjustable lightweight, frameless lens, and it touts a hydrophilic megol nose pad to help keep the frames in place when the sweat pours in the hills. Constructed from sturdy Grilamid TR90 polycarbonate, the V2 Max frame is f lexible and resistant to corrosion from sweat and sunscreen. Photochromic lenses adjust to varying light levels to keep your vision clear at all times while Smith’s Pivlock system makes it simple to quickly swap lenses for varying conditions. Frames are available in black, blue, orange or white. $240;

Canadian company Sugoi uses stretch woven fabric to maximize moisture transfer and keep garment weight to a minimum in the Racing System Elite (RSE) bib shorts and jersey. A new FXE 3D chamois with seamless grippers offer a low-prof ile f it for increased aerodynamics and comfortable feel. Ultra-lightweight, stretch woven fabric in the chest panel gives the kit a pro f it, while mesh side-panels help increase airflow to the skin. There are three traditional rear pockets as well as a small zippered pocket for valuables, and the aeroband sleeve covers most of the bicep, offering a clean look and feel. $220 (RSE Jersey), $240 (RSE Bibs);
